Public Hearing Notes for Old Raleigh Road Rezoning

Just a few take aways from last night's public hearing at the Halle Center in downtown Apex, NC regarding a rezoning application by the Johnson Automotive Group.

They are looking to rezone 8 lots amounting to 11.2 acres located between Lake Pine Drive and the Apex/Cary border along Old Raleigh Rd. Check out the photo for details.

Approximately 35-40 impacted residents were in attendance and the bulk of the concerns focused on increased traffic, light pollution and increased water runoff into the Buckingham subdivision.

Morningstar Law Group from represented Johnson Automotive at the meeting, and attorney Patrick Byker took the majority of the questions, while Mike Horn of Kimley-Horn answered questions concerning traffic impacts, and possible road widening, etc. WithersRavenal would handle the site engineering.

According to Byker, there will only be one main entrance to the proposed dealership (no brand has been determined) off of Old Raleigh Road. No entrances would be allowed by DOT off of 64.

There would be a 30' Type A Opacity buffer created between Old Raleigh Road and the dealership.

Byker said they would be submitting the rezoning application to the Town of Apex Planning Committee in the next couple of weeks, with the thought of getting it before the main Town Council for a vote in about two months.
